8 things I love about Chrismas

I went Christmas shopping today and it was quite unsuccessful to be honest. I have been in Christmas mood for a couple of weeks now, but just didn’t feel like getting into the Christmas gift shopping madness yet. Why no? Well I came up with a few good reasons: No time and no money are the top two. On top of that I suck at coming up with awesome gift ideas which doesn’t help with my motivation. And also, why is Christmas all of a sudden so commercial, only about buying presents, isn’t it supposed to be about love, family, friends?
Here is a little list of things I love about Christmas:

1. Family Time
Especially since I don’t live close to home any more, spending time with my family during the Christmas Holidays, doing nothing but eat, drink and chat is a highlight.

2. Christmas Markets (including mulled wine)
I am a big fan of markets in general and Christmas Markets in particular are one of the best ways to get into Christmas mood for me. The mulled wine is an essential part of this, the smell, the Amaretto… ūüôā

3. Baking Cookies
The smell, the childhood memories, eating raw cookie dough. What more do I need to say?

4. Advent Calender
Usually I forget about this part of the Christmas time till at least December 5th, when it is too late to get one. But this year I was lucky, a friend sent me one just in time for December 1st, which is now putting a smile on my face every day.

5. Kitschy Christmas Decoration
I don’t have too much decoration here at my place, but I do love seeing the colourful decorations in the windows and the streets.

6. Christmas Lights
Big part of the Christmas decoration are the Christmas lights. The city is full of them these days. I have this little Christmas light chain in my room and love to turn it on to create a cozy christmasy atmosphere.

7. Christmas Music
Take ‘Last Christmas’ by Wham or ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ by Mariah Carey, yes they are cheese, but it wouldn’t be Christmas without those good old Christmas tunes.

8. Christmas Movies
‘Home Alone’, ‘The Grinch’ or ‘Love Actually’ one of the best parts about Christmas time is, that you have a real reason to watch those and other classics again and again.

I am pretty sure my list is not complete, so please feel free to add your favourite things about Christmas in the comments below!
