I love crying. It is one of the most liberating and authentic things you can do. I am not saying, that I would love to just cry all the time, that would certainly be exhausting, but once in a while, it can really help.
Crying is one of the few honest feelings, that are unmistakably visible from the outside and can hardly be faked. Usually, when we are in public, we try to hide it. But I think, we should cry much more openly and embrace it, here are five reasons why:
- When you cry, your body releases adrenaline and noradrenaline, these hormones cause your body to be relaxed and calm.
- Crying stimulates the production of endorphins, which will lift up your mood and help release stress.
- If you are unable to put your emotions into words, crying can help you share what you feel, which will then make it easier to talk about it.
- And also, tears clean and care for your eyes.
For me, lately, crying has been an outlet for all my happy emotions. I just started my freelance career and got engaged to the most amazing guy, which just caused so many moments of happiness and contentment, that any emotional song or nice thing someone says, just gets me. every. time.
But it hasn’t always been like this and it wont always be like this. I had times in my life, not too long ago, when I was upset and helpless, which caused me to cry a lot. And what I noticed back then, when I cried in public, especially at work (this didn’t happen THAT often but it did…), I was immediately viewed as an emotional person (fair enough) and someone who couldn’t handle pressure as well as others – ehm excuse me, what? Crying is natural, healthy and wonderful, we should all embrace our tears, set positive energy free and let negative feelings out.
