On my way from Thailand to Singapore I spent a week in Malaysia. Looking back, a week was way too short but hey, I can always come back. I flew from Krabi to Kuala Lumpur and had a little culture shock. After I had spent a month in Thailand in the jungle or on the beach, clean and modern Kuala Lumpur was quite a contrast. It was nice, but it didn’t keep me there very long.
I took a bus from Kuala Lumpur to Mersing, stayed there a night and then took a ferry to Pulau Tioman.
This was exactly what I wanted. After having been around different people every day for the past couple of weeks and also doing so many different things, I just felt like doing nothing for a bit. Tioman was perfect for that, aside from diving, there is really not much to do there. My aspirations to at least go hiking one day were quickly thrown over board and I basically spent my days reading and sleeping.
My wonderful bungalow was right at the beach, I had it all to myself and it was air-conditioned. What else do I need?
