I had been in Thailand for a bit over two weeks now and haven’t seen a beach yet, this screams for a change of scenery: Off to the islands.

I booked a flight from Chiang Mai to Surat Thani with Air Asia, even though I was a bit sceptical about this airline, I can now wholeheartedly say, I like Air Asia. They are cheap and their service is great. Why? Here is the story:

Back in Bangkok I booked a hiking trip through the jungle close to Chiang Mai. Looking back, I could have gotten it way cheaper if I had not booked it there and I could probably have been more selective about the kind of hike I booked, but I am still glad I did it this, because I met a group of amazing people.

Welcome to Thailand

When I plan a trip, I don’t usually think about all the things that could go wrong. I just prepare whatever I think is necessary and expect the best. So usually I just freak out really briefly right before the trip. This time was no exception and I worried that my expectations for South East Asia were too high and could never be met or that I would end up not finding any travel buddies and just be alone for 3 months.
